DAY 1: Dar es Salaam

Met at the airport and transferred to your boutique hotel accommodation (Alexander's Hotel, BB) on the Peninsula of Dar es Salaam. Acclimatise in the courtyard style gardens by the swimming pool, and meet the Authentic Tanzania Safaris team at the roof top bar in the evening for a pre Tanzania safari briefing. Optional activities include a trip to a local craft market.

DAY 2: Mikumi National Park

Set off after breakfast for the start of your Tanzania safari adventure. Your Authentic Tanzania Safaris guide will collect you and you will head west to Mikumi (5 hr drive). Pass through villages and farm land and enjoy views over sisal plantations on the way into the park. Arrive for an afternoon 'taster' Tanzania Safari game drive to spot plains game and some of the big five, and relax at your lodge as the sun dips below the water hole (Mikumi Wildlife Camp, FB).

DAYS 3 to 6: Ruaha National Park

After a Tanzania Safari game drive at dawn you will return to the lodge for breakfast and then leave for your next Tanzania safari adventure (5 hr drive). Ruaha National Park is Tanzania's second largest park. Located in the south west of the country it is still relatively untouched by tourism and is a haven for wildlife; with abundant predators, the big five, the largest variety of antelope species and beautifully diverse landscapes. Your camping safari stay will be on an exclusively private basis at the Authentic Tanzania Safaris Kilimatonge Wilderness Camp (FB) set up for you in the best wildlife viewing area. You are free to organise your days as you please, with a walking safari, daily game drives, delicious bush banquets and down time whenever you want. Observe the wildlife in action for as long as you like: follow hunts as they are unfolding and travel to remote areas to spot rarer species.

Back at camp, staff are on hand to provide you with hot water for showers, cold drinks, laundry services and any other camping safari services you may need.

DAYS 7 to 9: Katavi National Park

The next stage of your Tanzania Safari begins with your flight from Ruaha to Kataviwhere you will be met at the airstrip and transferred to your lodge. Enjoy two game drives per day as you explore this remote western wilderness. Katavi is the third largest park in Tanzania but is one of the least visited - you will likely see no other vehicles during your stay, and you can expect huge herds of herbivores and pods of hippos, and a kaleidoscope of birds. At Katuma Bush Lodge (FB) your spacious lodge tent is raised on a platform, blending with the surroundings and offering the best Tanzania Safari sunset views over the plains.

DAYS 10 to 13: Mahale National Park

Fly from Katavi to Mahale to begin your Chimpanzee walking safari adventure. Trek with an expert guide for three days, spending up to an hour with the family groups you come across. Get some excellent Tanzania Safari photos and a real insight into these beautiful primates whose genetic make-up is only 1% different from humans!

Kungwe Beach Lodge (FB) is right on the sandy beach shore of Lake Tanganyika. Go snorkeling or kayaking in the clear waters of the lake between strenuous hikes, or simply relax on a sunbedyour Tanzania safari, your choice!

DAY 14: Dar es Salaam

You will return to Dar by plane and be met at the airport by the Authenti Tanzania Safaris Team, and taken to your boutique hotel accommodation (Alexander's Hotel, BB). Your guides will meet you for a debrief on your Tanzania safari, and to confirm your onward travel arrangements for your international terminal for your return flight home the following day.
